Your one stop for reef aquarium information

Reef Aquarium Advice

When it comes to reef aquarium advice, try not to listen to too many people all at the same time. That is a recipe for disaster.

When you are just starting out with your reef tank, there is a lot to learn. There is also usually more than one way to accomplish things. What works for one person may not necessarily work for someone else. Read as much as you can. Buy a few good books and read them. You will find some books I recommend on my book store page.

A word to the wise about listening to the people at your LFS (local fish store). You may get lucky and find a very knowledgeable person at your LFS. Unfortunately, that is not always the case.

You should already have an idea what you are looking for before you go to the store. Do your research first. Too many people have been talked into buying stuff they do not need.

They may all mean well, but you need to find a reliable source for information and stick with it. I would advise you to search out and find someone who has had a reef aquarium up and running for a few years and listen to them. There is no substitute for experience when it comes to reef aquarium advice.

A second opinion is fine and I encourage you to get other opinions. Just don't go overboard and try to listen to too many opinions all at once.

Best Reef Aquarium Advice

The absolute best advice I can give you is to do your own research before you buy anything.

Also, try to join a marine club in your area.

The people there will be a reliable source of information for you.

Local Fish Stores

Local fish stores can be a good source of information.

It's a good idea to check out more than one store.

The more stores you visit, the better ideas you will get.

Join a local marine club

The information you will recieve at club meetings is priceless.

You should also have many opportunities to visit members homes to see their auqarium setups.
